The cleanest way to guess the country

Most geography games either lock the good stuff behind a subscription or bury the map under ads. Countriq is the opposite — a guess-the-country game that stays out of your way:

A daily country quiz habit

Countriq is built to be a 60-second daily ritual — like a crossword, but a country shape quiz for the whole world map. Learning to guess a country by its outline trains a surprisingly deep kind of spatial memory: the bulge of Brazil, the boot of Italy, the long ribbon of Chile, the diamond of India. After a few weeks of daily play, shapes you'd never have placed start to feel instantly familiar.

Because every puzzle is the same for everyone on a given day, you can compare results with friends. The share button copies a spoiler-free emoji grid — green for the solve, warm and cold squares with direction arrows for your near misses — so you can post your score without giving the answer away.

Frequently asked questions

What is a country shape quiz?
A country shape quiz shows you only the outline of a country and asks you to name it. Countriq is a free daily version where you get six tries, plus distance and direction hints after each guess.
Is Countriq free?
Yes — completely. There's no account, no paywall, and no limit on endless mode. Play as much as you like.
How do I guess the country by shape?
Look at the outline, then type any country name and press Guess. Wrong guesses reveal how far away you are and an arrow pointing toward the answer, so you can close in over your six tries.
How is the daily country chosen?
Every player gets the same country each day, selected by a fixed daily seed that rolls over at midnight UTC. That's what makes comparing scores fair.
What do the distance and arrow mean?
After a wrong guess we show the great-circle distance from your guess to the answer, an arrow pointing toward the answer, and a proximity percentage — higher (and warmer) means you're closer.
Where do the country outlines come from?
From Natural Earth, a public-domain map dataset. We project and normalize each outline so it sits centered in the frame regardless of the country's real size.
Is Countriq affiliated with GeoGuessr or Worldle?
No. Countriq is an independent, free project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other geography game or quiz brand.
